Queer&Here
What was the project?
The project queer and here was an experimental intercultural project focused on the queer (LGBTQIA+) experience through an artistic lense. Featuring a collaborative experience with Trans Euphoria, and SIDES within Italy, Such as collaborating on an art exhibition. We recorded our individual experiences and then presented these for the public in Italy’s town of Trieste through various art objects. Trieste was the the town of our other partner Euphoria Trans.
What was the work in Treviso?
During our project we did most of the main work within the the town of Treviso, a town which our partner SIDES were having their office in. Here we collected items which would be considered as trash and repurposed them into art. Working as well with locals within Treviso through public art such as sketching, chalk’s and painting sessions. We got through a month’s work, slowly integrate into the community. Forming new friendships and experiences.
What came at the end?
By the end of the experience we had gained more insight into what is the experience for queer people living within Italy and how Swedish people can integrate themselves while at the same time being queer. As well as gather queer stories and present them in an authentic way, using art as a tool.
